Marcin Wrzal
Scratched
Another showcase of Marcin Wrzal’s work at Art Brut Gallery in Lublin. This time, the artist presents truly large-scale paintings — the canvases measure 100 × 100 cm and 120 × 100 cm. The works are rather demanding, both in their expressive intensity and in their “paint-hungry” nature.
As always, the artist treats us to a wealth of symbols and hidden meanings. The works vary — some appear deliberately unfinished, while others display a carefully polished finish. Wrzal uses both the palette knife and the traditional brush, achieving striking and unexpected effects.
The paintings reveal the artist’s signature organic shapes and bold, warm color fields that invite broader interpretation — marking a distinctive new direction in his creative practice, diverging from the forms and compositions we have come to associate with him.
